Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using WhatTheClip, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the software.
These terms are written in plain language to make the product boundaries understandable. They should receive final legal review before paid public distribution.
Licence and permitted use
WhatTheClip grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the software according to the purchase or access terms provided with your copy.
You may use WhatTheClip for personal or business work. You may not resell, redistribute, reverse engineer beyond rights granted by applicable law, bypass licensing controls, or use the product to access information you are not entitled to handle.
Your clipboard and your responsibility
You control what you copy, save, assign to favorite slots, paste, export, or delete. If you copy confidential, regulated, private, or third-party information, you are responsible for having permission to handle it.
WhatTheClip can make copied content easier to find. It cannot decide whether that content should have been copied in the first place.
Local storage is not a backup
Clipboard history and favorites are convenience features, not a backup system. Items can be pruned, deleted, become unreadable after system changes, or depend on files and permissions outside WhatTheClip's control.
Keep important source files, documents, credentials, and records in a suitable durable system.
Security boundaries
Managed payload files are encrypted at rest using a local Keychain-backed key. Titles, previews, profile names, timestamps, and other metadata may remain visible in the local app database.
Encryption reduces exposure of stored payload files. It does not guarantee that copied content cannot appear elsewhere on your Mac, inside the destination app, in backups, in screenshots, or in other software that can access the clipboard.

Permissions and automation
Clipboard capture, global shortcuts, overlay navigation, login behavior, and automatic paste depend on macOS permissions and the behavior of the active destination app.
You can revoke permissions or disable automation at any time. If macOS or another app blocks a paste transaction, WhatTheClip may copy the selected content and ask you to paste manually.

Updates and compatibility
WhatTheClip may provide fixes, improvements, security changes, or compatibility updates. A future macOS release or destination-app update may change clipboard, permission, or automation behavior.
Not every older release will be supported indefinitely. Release notes and minimum system requirements should accompany each public build.
Third-party services
Website hosting, checkout, payment, customer accounts, licensing, downloads, or update delivery may rely on third-party providers. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
WhatTheClip is not responsible for an external provider's outage, account decision, payment processing, or policy change, but the product should identify the provider before you submit information to it.
Warranty disclaimer
WhatTheClip is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. Clipboard capture, recovery, global shortcuts, and paste automation may fail because of permissions, file availability, system security, destination-app behavior, or operating-system changes.
No promise is made that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable as the only copy of important data.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, WhatTheClip and its owner will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-profit damages arising from use of the software, loss of clipboard history, automation failure, or unavailable third-party services.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Suspension or termination
Access may be suspended or terminated if the software is used unlawfully, licensing is deliberately bypassed, or these terms are materially breached.
You can stop using WhatTheClip at any time. The default uninstall preparation preserves local data; use the separate Clear Local Data action first if you want history, profiles, favorites, payload files, and custom logos removed.
